Worth the Wait: 9th Grade Material

The Scott & White Worth the Wait® curriculum is one of the most up-to-date, teacher, parent, and student friendly sex education curricula available today. Designed and written by a team of certified teachers, healthcare professionals, and attorneys, a variety of topics are covered to help students realize the social, psychological, and physical health gains they will achieve by abstaining from sexual activity. It also provides students with the skills that will lead them to self-sufficiency and a strong resolve to remain abstinent.

Children receive the curriculum in the "Teen Living" classrooms during Middle School and will receive it during different classes such as Biology or Health and Wellness in the High Schools.  The curriculum is taught by the teachers of these classes, once parents have signed a consent form.  The consent form sent by the curriculum teacher must be signed before children can receive the information.

I.D. : 10th Grade Homeroom and Afterschool Program

In the spirit of continuity and the desire for students to make positive choices with the information they have been given through the WTW material, I.D. is a way for students to apply what they've learned in controlled environments with their peers from 3:30-5:30 every Monday afternoon.  Abstinence topics are re-introduced at the beginning of the week by Site Coordinators and developed throughout the week in 10th grade homeroom (20 minutes per day, two days per week).  Through activities after school and reinforcement during the school week students are learning how abstinence from risky behaviors allows them the focus and strength to become leaders and self-sufficient adults.
