A comprehensive program designed to prepare students for real living

ID (Identity Development) is part of "Your Choice, Your Future," a community-based abstinence program through Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority, Inc. for Hamblen County, TN.  I.D. is designed to serve 9th and 10th graders in Hamblen County, TN, during school, after school and through the summer as part of the community based abstinence program for which the Title V grant was funded.

By helping students become self-sufficient, confident and goal-oriented, their chances of pursuing risky behaviors changes dramatically.  We currently use Scott & White's "Worth the Wait" (WTW) curriculum through 9th grade and pursue a modified leadership supplement for our upper high school students to insure their success.  As a community abstinence portal, our goal is to raise awareness for risky behavior avoidance and healthy lifestyle choices in support of the Federal requirements for Title V grantees.

What we do:

Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority’s (DCEA) Your Choice/Your Future Project is part of a comprehensive youth development initiative designed to promote the cognitive, social, emotional, ethical, and physical well-being of Hamblen County's youth population. Funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, in collaboration with Hamblen County Schools, the following
one-on-one and group activities are provided during the regular school day, as well as in an after-school setting:

  • Tutoring  Credit Recovery
  • Character Education
  • Counseling
  • Teen Parent Education
  • A-H Curriculum Based Afterschool Program

Additionally, the Your Choice/Your Future Project supports the newly implemented Worth the Wait curriculum by stressing the importance of abstinence-until-marriage and linking many of our activities to this sound, healthy life choice.

Douglas-Cherokee Economic Authority, Inc.
is a Community Action Agency serving six (6) rural Appalachian counties in East Tennessee including Cocke, Grainger, Hamblen, Jefferson, Monroe and Sevier.
